Comment On "The Ursuline Convent"
Indeed, the original Ursuline convent in the French Quarter looks like an interesting place to visit. I pass by there frequently when walking to one of my favorite restaurants. The story of the miracle that occurred when the nuns prayed during the Battle of New Orleans is familiar me. I grew up in a Catholic Church in Sulphur, Louisiana called Our Lady of Prompt Succor. Prompt Succor, a Latin phrase which translates to something like "Immediate Help," is the title given to the Virgin Mary who supposedly interceded on behalf of the Ursulines' prayers during the Battle of New Orleans on the 8th of January.
