Mardi Gras & Voodoo
After the PowerPoint presentation of the Voodoo
Museum in class, I decided to browse online to learn more about it. I found a
neat article, here, about Voodoo in Mardi Gras. It discusses how Voodoo themes
are evident in Mardi Gras. It even goes on to say that Voodoo itself has been
incorporated into Mardi Gras. Many believed that Voodoo made its way into Mardi
Gras after events in Congo Square were brought to an end. Many also believed
that they have reappeared in Mardi Gras. One of the obvious examples includes
the Mardi Gras Indians. During a Mardi Gras procession, dancing and singing are
usually common. Such activities are very much alive and present in a Voodoo
ceremony. The article also briefly mentions the Skull and Bone gangs and The
Baby Dolls.
