Marie Laveau II
After the discussion in class, I decided to browse for an article on Marie Laveau II. Rumors of Marie Laveau's perpetual beauty and youth rose around the time of her death. Towards the end of her life, she spent much of her time working to care for the sick and imprisoned before returning to her home on 150 St. Anne Street. She remained confined to the house until her death. At the time her eldest daughter Marie Laveau II was tending to her health. Many have reported to seeing a young and beautiful woman in streets with a remarkable resemblance to Marie Laveau. Some claimed that Marie Laveau never died and that she was renewed. Skeptics argued that the alleged young Marie Laveau was actually her daughter, Marie Laveau II. She inherited her mother's beauty and personality. She eventually followed in her mother's steps and overtook the image as Marie Laveau. Marie Laveau II was well-aware of her mother's work and secrets. Although she had her mother's appearance she did not had her success. Marie Laveau II lacked her mother's compassion and that often resulted in the offset of fear. The article comes from a book entitled Scandalous Women. Click here to read the full article.
