Super Sunday
For the Mardi Gras Indians, Super Sunday is another important showcase outside the Mardi Gras season. Traditionally, Super Sunday precedes St. Joseph's day on the third week of March. It is an event held in "honoring Native Americans traditions." It is a scene of bright, colorful, and elaborate array of costumes. As they march throughout the streets, their aura draws spectators and supporters through their lively music and dance. I found a neat little article that gives a rough outline of what to expect at Super Sunday. I remember Morgan mentioning a structured or hierarchy-like system in her wonderful experience during the Mardi Gras season. The article briefly discusses the three basic classes: Spy Boy, Flag Boy, and Big Chief. In addition, it also mentions of a tribe Queen, something I have never heard before. Read more about it here.
