The Church of Christ, Scientist was founded in Boston in 1879 by Mary Baker Eddy. She wrote the Christian Science textbook that explains everything about the beliefs of her new branch of Christianity. She attempted to meld beliefs and discoveries in science with the Christian ideals, and the Church of Christ, Scientist was born. They believe that sin, disease, and death are not created by God because he is divinely and completely good and perfect, therefore these things do not exist. They also believe that evil is when a person lies and believes lies about God and His creations. The Church of Christ, Scientist was also highly influenced by the beliefs of matter and spirit, and how matter does not exist, because spirit exists in everything. In celebration of baptism and the Eucharist, they are completely non-material. Instead of receiving communion, they pray in remembrance and celebration.
