Communion

In the catholic tradition, communion is the practice of receiving Eucharist, which they believe is the body and blood of Jesus Christ in the form of bread and wine. Catholicism is the only religion that believes their communion is the actual body and blood of Christ when receiving it. Some may think we are strange for thinking this, but there have been some miracles concerning the Eucharist. One of the miracles I have learned took place in Rome in 595. A woman had baked bread for the mass to use as communion, and when it came time to receive the Eucharist she laughed. The pope asked her why she was laughing, and she replied that she didn’t believe that the bread that she baked in her home could be the body and blood of Christ. The pope then said a prayer for her and as soon as he finished, the bread turned into real blood and flesh proving to the women that Jesus was really present in the Eucharist. This is just one miracle, but there are many more. This just strengthens the faith of Catholics around the world.
