The Skeleton Key

Staying in this weekend? Maybe you just want to lean back, relax, and watch a movie with your friends. If so, allow me to make a recommendation.

I recently watched a movie called The Skeleton Key . Starring Kate Hudson, the story tells about a young and adventurous hospice nurse who finds herself working on an old (and creepy) New Orleans plantation. However, this is no ordinary plantation. It has a long history with dark Hoodoo magic. The nurse sooner or later, seeking to know more about the hoodoo that is so commonly practiced in the area, finds herself in a secret botanica located in Algiers Point. Now, I do not want to make this post a spoiler but what is so interesting about the movie is how it is filmed throughout the city and presents hoodoo as an underground religion. Now lets face it. Hoodoo is not as dark as the movie makes it out to be, but in many regards to the New Orleans lifestyle, it is pretty accurate.

So if you want to see a movie that will allow you to exhibit your seminar knowledge to your friends, this is a movie you have got to see.
