Life as a Creole

After our various discussion in class on Creoles, I decided to take some time to learn more about them. While browsing thru the web, I was able to find a neat website that outlines the basic lifestyle of a Creole. The webite is from the Yale-New Haven Teachers Institute. It is basically an intro for a class on Creole culture. I was surprised to find that a class on Creole culture exists. But the more I thought about it, the less shocking it became. The Creoles were a huge component in the culture of Louisiana. Louisiana was a huge territory that included most of the south before it was broken up. Inhabitants were mainly French and Spanish. The two eventually intergated over the years and gave rise to the Creoles. It has become a lifestyle and culture for many and it's presence can be still seen today. Link here.
